IMPORTANT: Band Instrument/Attire Checklist for Virginia Trip

Please scroll all the way through and review the following checklist of concert requirements for Band instruments and attire for the Virginia trip, which is coming up in three short weeks. Reminders will be posted/emailed prior to the trip. Any questions should be directed to Mr. Smalley. Thanks!

Instrument Check:

FLUTES: If room, pack your instrument in your suit case, MUSIC

CLARINETS: 3 extra reeds, cork grease, MUSIC

DOUBLE REEDS: extra reed, MUSIC

SAXOPHONES (Alto, Tenor, Bari, Soprano): neck strap, 3 extra reeds, cork grease, MUSIC

TRUMPETS, TROMBONES, EUPHONIUM, TUBAS:

  • MUSIC
  • Mouthpiece
  • valve oil
  • any mutes needed for the pieces

PERCUSSION:

  • MUSIC for Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band percussion
  • suspended cymbal and stand
  • concert snare drum and stand
  • crash cymbals
  • sleigh bells
  • shaker
  • triangle, triangle beater
  • All necessary mallets and sticks – concert snare sticks, bass drum mallets, timp mallets, mallets for vibes,                 marimba and xylo

IMPORTANT: Please make sure that you have a nametag on all instruments with the following:

  • first and last name
  • address
  • phone number

 

Concert Attire:★ ★

GENTLEMEN’S CONCERT BLACK (all bands): 

  • Black dress shirt
  • Black dress pants (NO JEANS)
  • Black dress belt
  • Black socks
  • Black dress shoes (most gentlemen wear black marching shoes)

LADIES’ CONCERT BLACK (all bands):

  • Black dress, black blouse and black skirt, or black blouse and black dress pants
  • Sleeves may be medium length or longer (NO sleeveless tops)
  • Dress or skirt must be mid-calf or longer
  • Pants should be long
  • Black closed toed dress shoes (comfortable heel height for walking on and off stage)
  • Jewelry: small necklace and/or earrings may be worn (NO bracelets)

★ ★ Band students who are in Chorus do not need to change out of their chorus uniform!
