Dear North Andover Bands:
I hope this letter finds everyone well. I wanted to take a minute to update everyone on what the band has accomplished over the past few months and share our schedule of events for the remainder of the school year.
April was a very busy month for the music department. We held our annual All – Town concert in early April. It was a very successful evening. All of the bands in grades 6 – 12 performed and we concluded the evening with a combined performance of America the Beautiful. The music association also awarded all of the senior band members their 4-year pins. At the end of April the music department traveled to LA to participate in the Orange County Festival of Gold Festival. The band had the opportunity to work with Dr. Gary Hill from Arizona State and perform at Segerstrom Concert Hall.
As we head into May our schedule becomes very busy with performances. On Monday, May 29 the marching band will march in the Memorial Day Parade. Students need to report to the town common at 9:00AM. Dress for this event is black pants, white band polo shirt tucked in, black marching shoes, black socks and black belt. This event is one of the most important events that we participate in. The band represents the North Andover community and assists in paying respect to the past and present men and women who served or currently serve our country. I know that this weekend is the kick off for summer and that many families travel, but we have a commitment to our community so I hope everyone will be in attendance. The music department has started its first annual cash raffle. We are asking every student in the music department to sell ONE $25.00 ticket. The winning ticket will be drawn at the spring concert. All tickets are due on Friday, May 26th.
June is another busy month for us. On Tuesday, June 6 AT 7:00PM in the high school auditorium we will be having our annual end of the year banquet sponsored by the North Andover Music Association. We also have our annual spring concert on Thursday, June 1st at 7:00PM in the North Andover High School auditorium. This is a very special evening as it is the senior’s last performance. The spring concert is also the culmination of all the work that we have done over the past year. We hope to see you there. The band will also be performing for the senior class awards day and for the class of 2017 graduation ceremony. Graduation is on Friday, June 9th. Students need to report to the band room at 4:00PM
I thank you for your continued support. We are very lucky to have such a thriving music program in North Andover. I look forward to seeing everyone at our many end of the year performances. I wish everyone a safe and restful summer and look forward to doing this all again next year.
