NAHS and NAMS Students Perform in Northeast Honors Band Ensembles

North Andover was well represented in this year’s Northeast Massachusetts Honors Youth Wind Ensemble and Honors Middle School Concert Band, which both performed on May 14th at the Galvin Middle School in Wakefield.

The ensembles are comprised of students from more than 10 Northeast Massachusetts school districts who are recommended by their band directors. Each ensemble attends only three 90-minute rehearsals before performing three challenging pieces in the final recital.

Congratulations to the following North Andover High School students, all from Grade 9, who returned by invitation to perform with this year’s Honors Youth Wind Ensemble:

  • Chris Beasley, Trumpet
  • Ryan Burns, Percussion
  • Claire Mezzina, Clarinet and Percussion
  • *Michael Ando, Flute, attended rehearsals but was unable to perform that day

The concert was jointly conducted by Dr. Bradley P. Ethington, Director of Bands at Syracuse University, and Mr. Thomas Bankert, Director of Bands at Wakefield High School.
